SCHOOLS CLOSED FOR MEMORIAL DAY.

TUESDAY MAY 27, 2008 -  WI-HI COMMENCEMENT TONIGHT

The word of the day is “PRECLUDE” (pree-KLOOD ) verb ** Definition - –  Make impossible; eliminate.  The fact that the band was already booked to play in Hollywood on New Year’s Eve precluded their accepting the New Year’s Eve gig in London.           

HSA make up tests begin today - - Teachers please check you email  ** Today will be your HSA Government Make-Up – Meet in the Media Center at 8am

The stadium is closed for the remainder of the school year - - This area is off limits to everyone.

Commencement Practice 12::00 noon WYCC – Seniors will be released following practice.   Civic Center Doors will be locked at 7pm so please make sure you arrive for teacher/student line-up by 6:30pm.  Teachers bring your badge for your entrance and all guests must have a commencement ticket to enter. 

Teachers check your email today for your graduation line-up (this is the order you will stand at graduation according to your years of service).  –  Mrs. Melvin will see you at the WYCC no later than 6:45pm (doors lock at 7pm sharp) Meet us in the hall way next to the concession stand to the right when entering the WYCC.   A copy of the Alma Mater will be given to you J

            Wicomico High School Graduation  will be this evening at7pm – Ticket only and doors will be locked sharply at 7pm.

Work-Out Session/ Meeting to be held TODAY at 3:15 in the gym.  This is for all Wi-Hi Students who are interested in working out and getting in shape.  See Ms. Bankert or Mr. Ball in the gym if you should have any questions.

Computer Lab will be held today in room ME-2.  Computer Lab is held from Monday thru Thursday each week.  Students are welcome to the computer lab as long as they abide by the school policies. 

Art Club will meet after school today from 3:10 – 4:00 in Mrs. Choi’s Art Room

Math & Science Tutoring in room  A-1 and D-13 today from   3 – 4:30pm 

English & Social Studies Tutoring in room A-14  3pm – 4:30

After School Detention Center will be held today and it is held every Tuesday and Thursday each week in the ME-3 from 3:15 to 4:30 – If you are late to detention, you will NOT be allowed to attend.  Please be on time and bring classwork to work on

REMEMBER - There will be supervision daily for all of the Wi-Hi parking lots.   Students must have a parking permit in order to park in the student parking lot.  If you do not have a parking permit you vehicle could be towed away.  Parking permits are $10.    *** Students please remember to always BUCKLE UP!!

The word of the day is “PRECOCIOUS”  (pree-KOH-shus)  adj  ** Definition - – Advanced in development.  Listening to the grown-up wary the child discussed serious topics, he couldn’t help remarking how precocious she was.

Upwardbound Coaching will be held  today with Mr. Stanley in room A-9

The Young Writer’s Club will meet today in room A-10 from 3:10 to 4pm.  Interested students are still encouraged to join, if they haven’t already done so.   If you want more information, please contact Ms. Malone, Mrs. Lawshe, or Mr. Copeland.

Bible Club will meet today in room C-6 .  New members are welcome.  See Ms. Davis if you have any questions.

One on One Math tutoring with Mrs. Joseph in room A-1 – Appointment Only

Book Club will meet today at 3:10 in room C-8 – Contact Mrs. Genga if you have any questions

Students – please remember to BUCKLE UP.  You will receive a ticket if you do not abide by the Maryland traffic laws.  Please drive safe and be courteous to pedestrians.

The word of the day is “PREDILECTION”  (preh-di-LEK-shun) noun  ** Definition - – Partiality; preference.  Although I have written all sorts of poetry over the years, I have a definite predilection or occasional verse.

Work-Out Session/ Meeting to be held TODAY at 3:15 in the gym.  This is for all Wi-Hi Students who are interested in working out and getting in shape.  See Ms. Bankert or Mr. Ball in the gym if you should have any questions.

College Bound After School Program will be after school today from 3:00 to 4:30 in room A-17.  This program is open to all 11th &12th graders who would like additional help exploring colleges, completing applications, reviewing essays, and finding financial assistance.  Permission slips can be picked up from Ms. Jones Wi-Hi’s college advisor.  She is located in the C-building intersection office.

REMEMBER - School is in session so please observe the speed limit.  Be especially alert of children and yield to pedestrians.  DON’T RUSH… There will be supervision daily for all of the Wi-Hi parking lots.  *** Remember to please make sure that you do not block the fire lanes.  Parents may drop off/pick up students but they cannot park in the fire lanes.

The word of the day is “PREVALENT” - (PREH-vah-lent)  adj  ** Definition –  Widespread; generally accepted.  Reed had no patience with the conservative views prevalent in the America of his day.

May 1 – June 13   Benefits Open Enrollment – Questions call Human Resources Department at the BOE

May 31 - Trip to Six Flags – for those who participated in the St. Jude Mathathon 7:15 – 8:30pm.  – See your math teacher for details.

June 2 -   Krispy Kreame Fundraiser due to Mrs. Shiles today.

June 3 -   Exam Exemption papers are due to your English teacher

June  5 – 10  Exams will be held at Wicomico High School   

June 5 -   Sports Physicals will be held at PKS from 6pm to 8pm for $15  ** This will cover your sports for the 2008-2009 school year.

June 6, 9, & 10 will be ½ days of school

June 10 - ½ day of school – Make up exam day only and teachers last day of school

June 10 - Last day for teachers

June 7 -   Teacher “Party Wid a Purpose” 5pm -  Teachers and Staff Only   --- See Mrs. Genga for details

June 10 - NEW DATE ……. Last day of  school  due to snow days this year – ½ day

June 12 - Last day for classified employees
