WI-HI FACULTY DEFEAT SOFTBALL TEAM IN INAUGURAL FACULTY VS. VARSITY GAME

The Wi-Hi Faculty and Staff, led by winning pitcher Dr. Banks, defeated the varsity softball team by a score of 9-5. Almost 20 staff played in the game, as did most of the Varsity Softball Lady Indians.

Dr. Banks pitched all 7 innings and had 5 strikeouts in the effort, and gave up only 1 earned run. The offense was led by Mr. Currence, whose double was the lone extra-base hit of the night. The staff took advantage of passed balls to reach bases and score two runs in the first inning. Mr. Burkhardt led the defense with two assists from left field, cutting down runners at the plate. Mr. Devine led the crowd with his trombone "Charge!" cheers.

The Varsity were led by pitcher Stephanie Muir, who had a no-hitter through 5 innings and struck more than half a dozen, most with a devastating change-up. Lindsey Bouchard also pitched. More pictures, taken by W. Corry Larson , can be found here.

WI-HI ROCKETRY TEAM PLACES IN TOP 25 IN AMERICAN COMPETITION IN DEBUT EFFORT

Wi-Hi's Team America Rocketry Competition team made its national debut last week and its was extremely successful! Team members had to build a rocket capable of carrying a regular egg a height of 750 feet and return it safely. The team finished 23rd out of 643 teams, putting them in the 4% of all teams competing. Congrats!

The finals took place in Manassas, VA, and the team attended with advisor Mr. William Currence.

Team members included: Lindsey Buck, Michelle Robison, Teddy Gutierrez, Abby Harding, Joey Tilghman, Noah Whittington and Scott Kephart.

MARKING TERM 4 PROGRESS REPORTS HAVE BEEN ISSUED - MUST PASS 4TH TO PASS!

All Wi-Hi students should have received their 4th Marking Term Progress report by the end of the day today. Please review with your student their percentages in each class, and feel free to contact teachers with any concerns. The school phone number is (410) 677-5146 and messages left for teachers will be returned promptly, usually by that night.

Just a reminder, any class that a student fails for 4th Marking Period means the student has failed that class for the year and no credit is earned. If it's needed for graduation, it will have to be repeated. Encourage our Wi-Hi students to do their best for the last five weeks and to live up to Mr. Hughes' challenge of NO FAILURES IN ANY CLASSES for 2008-09!
